Why Blog? The Benefits of Blogging
After contemplating for years, and after being suggested by others on numerous occasions, a few months ago I decided to push ahead and create a Blog. With many years experience from travel and a few more through photography, I found it made total sense.
However, since creating the blog I’ve been asked various times, why do you blog? What do you get out of blogging? What are the benefits of blogging? A selection of questions surrounding blogging in general. Therefore in this blog I’ll be discussing the answers to… Why Blog?
For me personally, in the past when traveling I usually wrote notes for memories sake if I found or came across something interesting and unique, or even just simple information about a locations history and past. Long travel days on the road, therefore time alone with your thoughts, I found writing stuff down was a way to not only remember things, but to keep my body and mind active. As a result of this, I’ve found the transition into making a fully fledged blog to be fruitful and worthwhile.
First and foremost as I mentioned, one of the main benefits and reasons why I decided to take up blogging properly is because of the active body and mind benefits it brings. At times us as humans tend to bottle things up, our thoughts and feelings, why we care, and who we really are. Therefore writing things down, and in turn blogging, gives us a way to express how we feel and share information far easier instead of keeping it to ourselves. The positives it produces for you mentally makes it incredibly worthwhile, keeping your mind active and healthy, helping to provide a simpler pathway for a clearer thought process for yourself a lot of the time.
An additional aspect of blogging is being able to share information and useful knowledge with others, and in my case, that is in regards to photography and travel. As someone who has vast experience in travel and a growing portfolio of photography, being able to share what I know and have a personal understanding of through blogs and travel guides etc. will hopefully be of benefit to another, therefore even if a blog only helps one person, it’s considered to be deemed worthwhile. It doesn’t matter what the subject is or what it’s about, what you talk about within your blogs will be viewed as viable and legit information from years of experience from your own personal knowledge, and therefore straight away you are building a level of trust within your blogging.
Furthermore for me personally, blogging is also a great use of and further way to share my photography. In addition to sharing a small selection of photos from trips and experiences on social media, through the use of blogging it allows me to use and share a wider collection of photographs in a more formal and productive manner. As a result of this, not only can you share information within blogs, you also give your photography that added bonus of exposure too.
Following on from this, as you continue your blogging journey and as your audience grows, this in turn can provide positive business aspects for yourself and your brand.
Regularly updating your website and portfolio through the use of blogs helps to show Google and other search engines that your website is continually active and being updated with fresh content often.
As a result of this, this helps to boost your webpages and its seo, helping to drive traffic towards yourself and your brand, giving it a hightened sense of brand awareness.
Overall, Blogging is not only beneficial from a personal point of view, but it is also a great way to attract new followers towards your brand of work, helping to build a community and gather new interest and potential customers along the way.
